Judge me if you want, we're all going to die. I intend to deserve it.

S4 Stuff.

2007-04-20 10:06:32.  The weather outside is freaking /beautiful/ this morning.  Slightly breezy in the low 60s, with lovely warm sunshine.  Of course, we’re all inside right now.  :]  The Boy is skooting around wearing my Chucks; on the wrong feet at that.  Oh, but he’s adorable..  The S4’s getting ready to have quite a bit of work done this next week.  New front axles, new windshield (was slightly cracked when we got her), new intake, and new rims/tires.  These rims.. I wish they could have my babies.  They’re 18×7 Enkei RS6s wrapped in 225/40r18 Falken Ziex512 rubber.  The Ziex’s are becoming my absolute favorite street/performance tire.  They perform well, and still have decent treadwear.

.  I don’t remember if I wrote about it before, but I picked up a VAG-COM cable and software about a week ago.  It took a couple days to dig everything out, but I know have a dedicated (P166.. hah!) diagnostic/tuning laptop.  The data-logging capabilities are awesome.  You can log (for instance) boost level, air-flow, injector pulse-width, timing retardation, engine and vehicle speed, etc. all concurrently, and output everything as a CSV file.  That makes it really easy to throw all the data onto pretty graphs.  So far, except for some minor coding changes to the door-lock controller, all I’ve done is tweaked the fuel enrichment under boost a little.

.  I’ll make sure to post photos later on.  I’m waiting until after this weekend, because a group of us is going out to Hot Import Nights near DC on Saturday.  Teckademics is supposed to have a booth set up, and it promises to be quite awesome.  I just hope no-one gets stopped on the drive down.

.  I suppose I’ll end this so I can post it.  Pictures later, I promise.

out.

Yay, a post.

2007-04-07 12:49:23.  I’m told I’m a little over-due for an update.  It’s been a few months, so I suppose that’s at least a little fair.  I’ve written stuff a few times, but it’s stuff that’s more for me, so there you are.  As I write this, darling ‘lexi is trying to eat my left cargo pocket.  She’s like a tiny pink puppy..  A lot has happened in the last few months.  I won Soldier of the Month for January, and then Soldier of the Quarter last month.  I’ve been gone to Colorado a week out of every month on TDY for.. well, stuff.  I was also pinned Specialist recently.  The uniform I was wearing still has a little blood on it, under the collar.  (I wore BDUs so both SGT Fuller and SPC Tucker could pin me).  I don’t know if it’ll come out, or if I want it to.  :]

.  We finally have a real home theater, with an acer projector giving us an 84″ display in 1080i.  After that was set up, I finally got around to mounting all the satellite speakers and stuff.  It’s freaking awesome playing Gears of War and Rainbow Six..  the 360 plays quite well with dolby surround.  Movies are really nice, too, but I suppose that’s a given.  The next upgrade will be when we move into a different house  (this summer?), and it can have it’s own room and stuff.  :]

.  In other news, the hyundai finally gave out.  I was driving Tuck home and the transmission just blew.  I wasn’t being hard on it, either.  I guess it was just her time.  I do have a new baby, though, and it’s one hell of an upgrade.  I’ll post pictures here in a bit.  She’s a 2001 Audi S4. 2.7l V6 biturbo, all-wheel drive, (almost) completely stock, dressed in nogaro blue.  She’s a sexy beast. :]  We started tuning her this week, and it’s going to be an adventure.  :]

.  The carbon-based family’s doing well also.  I don’t remember if I’ve mentioned that Caleb runs all over now, but.. well, he does.  A tiny terror on two little feet.  He still tries to eat everything he can get to.  Alexis is getting more mobile as well.  She’s now attempting to get to my laptop so she can teethe on it.  No visible teeth yet, though.  She remains little, fuzzy, and pink.

.  Next friday I’m taking Amy to the ball that 21st Signal Brigade is hosting.  Our unit’s a little too geographically seperated to have our own, so 21st invited us to theirs.  That should be a lot of fun.

.  I guess my xanga subscription for premium’s expired..  I don’t know if I’m going to renew it or not.  I think I might just move this back to one of my own boxen.  We’ll see.
